To whom it may concern:
Time has a way of creeping up on us. This is particularly true
in the light of current calls for relevance in today's education.
Indeed, we must educate our students for a place in tomorrow's world.
Consequently, we must begin to take a close look at our course of
study and ask ourselves if what is being taught is pertinent and
relevant to education now - today.
With this in mind, the Learning for Life program here at Lake
Shore Middle School has made a tremendous impact on our 6th grade
students by developing positive social skills, self confidence,
promoting self esteem, character development, and learning to make
good decisions for lifelong skills here at school, home, and in
their community.
The Learning for Life curriculum has become an integral part of
the educational learning process for our 6th grade students due to
the fact that the program really speaks for itself.
For example, the Learning for Life program has reduced the number
of behavioral referrals, increased the number of students on the "All
A's" and "A-B" Honor Roll list, provided for a smooth transition from
Elementary to Middle school, allowed teachers to provide for a more
meaningful way of teaching social interaction in a group situation,
as well as broadening the educational and cultural background for all
students to get a good education with respect to their home, school,
and community.
In conclusion, the Learning for Life program has truly been a Partner
in Education for the 6th grade Warriors of Lake Shore Middle School
because it is making a difference, and ALL children want to be successful.
Why not start here?
Sincerely,
Shirley J. Meeks Assistant Principal 6th Grade House
